The problem is GPT vs MBR, as previously noted. I choose to do so as GPT because that will support > 2TB and MBR will not. I have a 500GB external hard drive that also is full and I am contemplating the purchase of a 4 TB Buffalo external hard drive. If I'm not mistaken that's 9.5 TB of storage potential, what do you do with all of it I've seen website servers that operate with less storage.

The last time I had a drive larger than 2TB with Win7 it wouldn't even let me touch the part beyond 2TB. The h/w is tended by its own i/f to allow full access to the HD storage excluding the usual handling space used by itself.
