I have searched online but i dont really know what is wrong with the drive. Often you can access the data on the missing drive by booting with a Linux LiveCD.

There are alternatives such as a drop-in box, where the drive just pushes into the hole in the top - but that does leave the drive electronics etc. Within 1 minute everything was back to normal.
