It can also be used to access files in backups you might have made in Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. HDD space is cheap nowadays so image size should not be a deterrent to imaging, especially if one use some discretion on how many to keep on hand. check my blog

Downloading and reinstalling software is only a fraction of the task -- you'll spend additional hours or days reconstructing the configuration settings and preferences that were lost along with the original Losing all that training and calling it quits is certainly not what I want but I see less and less future for me and MS.

C Drive should show GB FREE and GB Used. I've checked with Computer Management and only my C: drive is shown as Healthy (System, Boot, Page file, Active, Primary Partition); the other three hard drives including E: are shown as System Image Vs Backup The difference is that an image is a single file, like a ZIP or ISO file. You can also access the Advanced Options environment by creating a Windows 10 USB Recovery Drive. If you have more than one pc it is nearly impossible to find all the motherboard drivers, video drivers, Wi-Fi drivers, Usb3 drivers, etc.

System images are very large, and they contain files you really don't need. After widespread complaints, Microsoft restored this option to the graphical interface. Unless you have a network share set up, you don't need to worry about this option. Win 7 Home Premium cannot - it can write to external USB or DVD, but not a NAS.
