The only fix for this is a registry tweak so that Windows XP can’t see the Windows 7 drive.Have you considered using the virtual Windows XP on Windows 7 it is My situation forced me to replace the drive ($65) since the drive could no longer be recognized on any other system. I had to reset manually then it would not boot to windows 7 after removing the xp op disk. You will undoubtedly notice that the machine is booting directly into XP at this time. Choose the IDE CD-ROM and not the IDE HDD, because you want to reboot from the CD, not the hard drive, since your hard drive is in trouble. Windows Xp Won't Start
You need to provide SATA drivers during XP installation or go in bios change AHCI to IDE in order for XP to work on newer computers that use SATA controller. I am currently running XP and have always fancied having a go with W7, but for sure, not getting rid of XP. I just use CHKDSK /P without FIXBOOT, after the check the WinXP can be restarted successfully.
