I ran an SFC /Scannow, checked drivers, and I couldn't figure out how my clean install on a new Hard Drive suddenly stopped doing Updates. KB2984981 KB2923545 KB2994023 We tried installing each of these individually as well with no joy - same error code. Like you said, just uninstall the KB3004394 update, reboot & you're back in business.
