I tried to click the last restore point prior to the update. Navigate to Messages - crash. Select System Restore from the menu: Restore the last restore point. MS13-036 had two different patches. Now firefox just crashed as i was writing this. Once I found it, uninstalled it, and rebooted, the computer worked perfectly again. No further problems.

After reading the answer above, I wonder if the new Windows update had something to do with it also. As a precaution, we stopped pushing 2823324 as an update when we began investigating the error reports, and have since removed it from the download center. Should I deinstall it manually, once and for all??? Perhaps those files are corrupted?
