Is it possible to find online restore discs for the Windows Vista? In the Network Connection window there were two icons, as usual, "1394 Connection" & Local Area Connection". You say that your RJ-45 (network) port shows lights, (green and orange?) when the cable is plugged in, and they go out when the cable is taken out? It is possible to connect to a network over 1394, but that's very rare. Next thing to check is the ethernet adapter. get redirected here It worked so I didn't think too much about it.

So what I'll do is to d/l SP3 from the PC on to a cd and run that in the laptop. but looking at the details of the motherboard (http://www.motherboard.cz/mb/chaintech/MPM800.htm) it looks like the NIC controller is also used to power your USB and Firewire connectors.If your motherboard name is correct then I am running the disc again & received a message that the Java package could not be installed.
